Bowes, Beatrice “Bea” M. (Gilmore) of Quincy, formerly of Dorchester. May 5, 2008. Wife of the late Robert J. Bowes, BPD. Devoted mother of Robert J. Bowes, Jr. Ret. Detective, BPD of Quincy. Nancy M. Bowes of Nashua, NH, Janice MacPherson and her husband John, Mary Beth Bowes, BPD, Lisa J. Bowes all of Quincy and the late Thomas D. Bowes, BPD. Bea is also survived by her 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchild and 1 great great granchild. Bea raised her family in Dorchester and was active in the St. Mark’s Parish Womens Guild. She worked for 15 years as a switchboard operator at St. Margaret’s Hospital until they closed the hospital back in July 1993. Bea enjoyed sewing. Her family recalls how she always enjoyed calling them and saying, ” come drink tea with Bea” . She was a compassionate and giving women who was very devoted to her family. She had a special way of making people feel like they were family, she was like a mother to everyone. Bea will be sadly missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing her. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St. QUINCY, Thursday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in St. Mark’s Church, 1725 Dorchester Ave., Dorchester at 10 AM. Visiting hours Wednesday 3-8pm. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Donations in memory of Mrs. Bowes may be made to American Diabetes Assn., 330 Congress St., Boston, MA 02210-1216
