Barbara M. Shea of Cohasset, formerly of Hingham, passed away on Tuesday, August 24, 202,1 at the age of 93. Barbara is predeceased by her husband of 37 years, Donald P. Shea, Sr.
She was born in Weymouth, MA and raised in Braintree by the late Hazel (Delory) and Henry Frazier. After graduating from Braintree High School, she worked as a secretary honing her secretarial skills, and met her future husband Donald on a blind date set up by their closest friends. After his service in the US Navy during WW2, they were married and settled in Milton, MA. In 1954, they moved to Hingham, which turned out to be a journey of almost 65 years for Barbara and her family.
Barbara was a loving and generous mother to her eight children, and supported them in all their activities while in the Hingham school system and beyond. Barbara also enjoyed numerous bowling leagues with her friends, and was proud of her accomplishments. She later became active with her passion for golf. South Shore Country Club and Cohasset Golf Club were always close to her heart.
In her later years she loved spending her time with her 19 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She adored them all, and they brought her tremendous joy over the years.
Barbara is predeceased by her husband of 37 years, Donald P. Shea, Sr. and her siblings: John Frazier, Pauline Julian, William Frazier, Robert Frazier, Helen Ewell, Joe Frazier and Rita Brennan.
Devoted mother of Donald P Shea, Jr. and his wife Sharon of Pembroke, Deborah McKitterick and her husband Donald of Londonderry, NH, Michael Shea and his wife Lee of Hanover, Maureen Minkin and her husband Michael of Boca Raton, FL, Chris Shea and his partner Catherine Gillen of Braintree, Barbara Pinkus and her husband Jeffrey of Cohasset, Peter Shea and his wife Marybeth of Norwell, and Kevin Shea and his wife Cindy of Hingham. Loving Grammy of 19 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Barbara’s Funeral Mass on Monday, August 30, at 10:00 AM in St. Paul’s Church, Hingham. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Barbara may be made to the ALS Association, 1300 Wilson Blvd Suite 600, Arlington, VA 22209.
