Barbara M. LaRosa ,(Kavanaugh) of Hingham, formerly of Braintree, passed away peacfully January 9, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. The world lost a beautiful and incredibly courageous woman. Barbara was married for fifty- five years to her loving husband, Robert P. LaRosa. They made their home in Braintree for forty- four years before moving to Hingham three years ago to live with her Daughter, Son-in-law and three grandchildren. The ultimate family woman, Barbara loved and was devoted to her husband Robert and her three children, Robert P. LaRosa and his friend Susan M. Clawson of Braintree , Patricia LaRosa Nash and her husband Gregory J. of Hingham, and Michael J. LaRosa of TN. Sister of Claire Valentine of CA and the late Harold Kavanaugh, Jr., Barbara is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She took great pride in her devotion to and love for her three grandchildren, Michael, Katherine Mary, and Robert Nash. Barbara was very social and loved her friends. She enjoyed tap dancing, travel, playing bridge, and had an incredible stage presence. She was a member of the Braintree Women’s Club and the Puritan Bridge Club. Barbara was a strong and amazingly courageous woman, who faced her many health challenges with unyielding determination and untenable faith. Her miraculous ability to conquer cancer on more than one occasion was shared with many through the Reach to Recovery program as she sought to help and comfort countless individuals facing a diagnosis of cancer. Barbara will be remembered for her vibrant, fun loving personality. Barbara lived life passionately and to the fullest. Her kindness toward others and willingness to help all those in need were tireless. Barbara was happiest when surrounded by ber husband, children and grandchildren. Her strong moral character, quick wit, extraordinary generosity and love of story telling and laughter have left a lasting impression on the hearts of all who knew her. Above all else, Barbara cherished her grandchildren who will keep her memory alive in their hearts for ever. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her Mass in celebration of her life on Friday, January 13, 2012, at, Church of the Resurrection, 1057 Main St., Hingham, MA at 11 AM. Burial in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Barbara may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
