Barbara L. (Thomson) Skinner, of Hingham, formerly of Weymouth and Quincy, died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, November 28, 2023. She was 86 years young.
Barbara was born in Boston on May 27, 1937, and was the daughter of the late Francis and Jewel (Paige) Thomson. She was raised in Wollaston, attended local schools, and graduated from North Quincy High School.
Barbara enjoyed many jobs throughout her life. Being a mother, but also her experience working as a waitress at Dee Dee’s in Quincy and as a secretary for Kennedy Sheet Metal Company in Weymouth.
She experienced many special moments at the Hingham Elder Services, along with The Commission of the Blind Center, and The First Baptist Church where she was loved by so many. She was very involved with Road to Responsibility as well.
Barbara was the devoted mother of John J. “Jay” Skinner, Jr. and his wife Jayne of Hingham, Susan Bresnahan of New Hampshire, the late Richard T. Skinner, and the late Stephen E. Skinner. She was the loving grandmother of Krystal Thurston and her husband Matt of New Hampshire, Stephen Skinner and his wife Lindsey of Maine, Jason Skinner of South Boston, and Kerri Bresnahan-Bonk and her husband Davis of Utah. Barbara was the loving great grandmother of Tristan Bresnahan, Evan Thurston, Lily Thurston, Jack Skinner, and Alex Skinner. Barbara was the loving great-great grandmother of Arlo Richard Albee. She was the dear sister of the late Francis Thomson Jr.; Charlie Thomson and leaves behind the beloved wives, Millie and Judy Thomson, many loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and lifelong friends.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Barbara’s services below:
Visiting hours on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, 3-7 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM.
Family and friends are invited to gather again on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, from 9-9:30 AM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), Hingham, followed by a Funeral Procession from the Funeral Home to Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy. Graveside service will begin at 10:30 AM.
After the graveside service, Barbara’s memorial service will follow on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at 11:30 AM in First Baptist Church, 85 Main St., Hingham.
