Barbara L. Houston

Barbara L. Houston, a lifelong resident of Quincy, died peacefully on Sunday, September 29, 2019 in Milton. She was 81.

Born in Quincy, she was the daughter of the late John A. and Helen (Cherrington) Houston. Barbara attended local schools and graduated from the North Quincy High School with the Class of 1956.

Barbara loved her family more than anything. She was kind and generous with everyone in her life. Barbara loved children and spending time with the people she cared for. She loved summering at her family’s camp in Rangeley, Maine and going out to lunch once a month with her friends and fellow members of the Low Visions Club. In her spare time, Barbara enjoyed listening to music and her favorites were the 50’s and 60’s. She also loved to read and listened to audio books.

Barbara is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many dear friends. Barbara was preceded in death by her siblings: Jean Finneran, Zoa Spanks, Charlotte Houston and Carol Houston.

Services will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in Barbara’s name to the Perkins School for the Blind, 175 North Beacon St., Watertown, MA 02472.
