Barbara J. Glasheen

Barbara J. Glasheen of Hingham passed away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, April 7, 2022.  She was 79.

She was born in Boston to the late Colin and Josephine (Snelders) McLean.  After graduating from Mount St. Joseph Academy in Brighton, she went on to graduate Cum Laude from Boston College and later earned a Master’s Degree in Special Education at Cambridge College.  Barbara enriched the lives of countless students as a Special Education teacher with Hingham Public Schools in a career that spanned over 35 years.

A friend of Barbara’s was a friend for life.  She made everyone she met feel special and important.  A conversation with Barbara usually meant she had several questions for you and sometimes follow up questions before one had fully answered the first.  She had a quick wit and an excellent sense of humor that appealed to all audiences.  She loved spending time with her friends and family, and her pride and joy were her grandchildren. She had a unique and wonderful relationship with each of them.  She loved going to the beach, enjoyed sailing, reading, and spending time with friends and family.  She will be missed by all who knew her.

Beloved wife of 57 years to David L. Glasheen of Hingham.  Devoted mother of Karen Glasheen Huth and her late husband P. Jeffrey Huth of Charlotte, NC, Marybeth “Mame” Conroy and her husband John Dockrey of Scituate, and David L. Glasheen, Jr. of Hingham.  Loving sister to Joanne Connolly and her husband the late Paul Connolly of Scituate, Carol Murray and her husband Tom of Marshfield, Mary Connolly and her husband Gerard of Land O’Lakes, FL, and Colin McLean of Quincy.  Cherished grandmother to Susannah Huth of Charlotte, NC, Jonathan Huth of Charlotte, NC, Alexandra “Ali” Conroy of Scituate and Anna Conroy of Scituate. Beloved aunt and cousin to many.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, from 4-8 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Paul’s Church, Hingham at 10 AM. Burial in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham.
