Barbara F. Welch (Roper), 82, originally from Dorchester, died peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer’s on Monday, April 4, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born and raised in Dorchester where she graduated from St. Gregory’s in 1951. She started raising her own family in Dorchester before moving to Quincy over 50 years ago.
She enjoyed crossword puzzles, crocheting, playing bingo, camping, watching the Red Sox and the Patriots. She especially enjoyed visits from her great-grandchildren.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and she will be sadly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Loving mother of Jean Kerivan of Quincy, Nancy Welch of Rockland, Jack Welch, Jr. and his wife Sharon of South Boston and Maureen Ryan of Quincy. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sister Dorothy Jenkins of Scituate and many nieces and nephews.
She was the former wife of many years to the late Jack Welch, Sr.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Thursday 4-8 p.m. in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., Quincy. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Gregory’s in Dorchester at 12 PM on Friday. Burial in the Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org in Barbara’s name.
