Egan, Barbara Elizabeth (Dobbyn) of Quincy, May 31, 2006. Wife of the late Richard G. Egan. Loving Mother of Richard G. Egan. Jr. and his wife Eileen of Salem , NH, Brian E. and his wife Rebecca of Quincy, Kevin K. and his wife Susan of Bedford, Terrence and his wife Maurine of Bow, NH, Gregory E. and his wife Megan of Weymouth and Dorinda Egan Bogart and her husband James of San Diego, CA. Sister of Edward T. Dobbyn, Jr. and his wife Irma of Tarzana, CA. and the late Robert Dobbyn. Barbara is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., WOLLASTON, Monday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Saint Ann’s Church, Wollaston at 10:00 AM. Visiting hours Sunday 2- 5 & 7- 9 PM. Burial in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy. Barbara Elizabeth (Dobbyn) Egan of Quincy, died on May 31, 2006 at Quincy Medical Center after a short illness. Born January 31, 1919 in Quincy, she resided there nearly all her life. Mrs. Egan attended and graduated from Quincy High School, Class of 1936. She then attended and graduated from Bridgewater State Teachers College. Not long after graduation, Barbara entered the United States Navy during World War II, where she rose to the rank of Lieutenant in the Naval Supply Corps. After her military service she married the late Richard G. Egan and they enjoyed 48 1/2 years together. Together they owned Egan’s Sunoco on Adams Street in Quincy for 36 years. Her family had a long tradition of summering in the lakes region, which she faithfully upheld until her passing. Barbara was a long-time member of the Wollaston Garden Club at the Quincy Historical Society. She was a member of the Bridgewater Alumni Association as well as the Quincy High School Alumni Club. She was also an accomplished artist. Her biggest joys and efforts were reserved, however, for her family. In the span of six and 1/2 years, she had six children to whom she devoted her life. Donations in memory of Mrs. Egan may be made to A.L.S., Lou Gehrig’s Disease , 7 Lincoln St. Wakefield, MA 01880. W.W. II Navy veteran.
