Barbara H. (Connor) DeGregorio, a longtime resident of North Weymouth, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at home on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at the age of 87 after a long period of failing health. Born in Boston,
Barbara was one of four children born to Dr. WM Connor and Alice (Dunn) Connor. She attended the Dorchester High School for Girls and a was graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music. Barbara studied to be a teacher and a profession concert pianist.
One of her early professional accomplishments was a solo performance with famed conductor Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops. Later years, she became a well-known piano teacher in the Boston and the South Shore communities of Quincy, Braintree, Milton, Weymouth, and Hingham. Her teaching spread across generations. She loved working with students young and old. She taught multi-generations of families at her Quincy studio. She made lifelong friendships and connections with her love of teaching piano. Barbara retired after 55 years of teaching music.
Barbara was a vibrant woman, who had a way of making anyone and everyone she encountered feel special. She loved any opportunity to celebrate with family, friends and her husband’s business associates. Hosting many events from Weymouth to the Cape over her lifetime.
A lover of classical music, Barbara enjoyed going to the Pops and Symphony Hall, and, closer to home, the South Shore Music circus and the Cape Code Melody Tent, of which she was a long-time ticket holder. She enjoyed travelling all over Europe, particularly enjoying England, Ireland, Italy and Spain. She took many family trips and outings to Cape Cod. Some of her favorite areas were the beaches along the Yarmouth and Dennis area.
Barbara was the beloved wife of the late Christopher A. DeGregorio. She is survived by her loving son Christopher A. DeGregorio Jr. and his wife Mary L of Weymouth. She was the sister of Jean Joyce of Weymouth, Robert and Linda Connor of Seattle and the late Mary Lou Coleman. She is also survived by her step-grandchildren William Gibson, IV and Margaret Gibson, and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visitation for Barbara on Friday, March 4 from 10-12 in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea Street (off Route 3A – Bicknell Square followed by funeral service celebrated at 12 PM. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Boston.
