Barbara Joan Cohan

Barbara Joan (Mac Dougall) Cohan of Saint Augustine Florida passed away peacefully after an extended illness surrounded by her family March 6, 2025.

Born on May 6, 1929 in Boston Mass, daughter of the late John Mac Dougall and Josephine (Donovan) Mac Dougall. She was predeceased by her husband James Cohan in 2003 and also predeceased by one son.

Barbara grew up in Brighton, Mass and attended local schools. Following graduation she worked for the telephone company in Boston and later worked as a bookkeeper until her retirement.

Barbara and her husband settled in Weymouth Mass and raised a family of 5 children; then moved to Carver Mass for their retirement years. Upon her husbands death in 2003, she moved to Florida to be near her children.

She was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Parish of Weymouth, and most recently Saint Joseph Parish,  Florida

Her favorite past times were needlepoint, crafts and avid reading.

She is survived by her daughters Christine Naas (Edward), Linda Oliver (Dana) a son Gary Cohan: all of Florida and a son David Cohan of Massachusetts. Also survived by 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Friday 3/14/2025 from 9-10 AM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home EAST WEYMOUTH at 3 Charles Street (corner of Charles & Middle Street) followed by her Funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church, Weymouth at 10:30 AM.

Burial in Old North Cemetery, Weymouth.
