Sullivan, Barbara Anne, of Hingham, formerly West Roxbury, died October 8, 2022.
Barbara was a proud graduate of Mount Holyoke College, class of 1950. She was the Vice President of the actuarial department at John Hancock and was the first woman to hold that title at the company. She was on the Board of the Hingham Public Library, member of the South Shore Country Club and the Fine Arts Chorale, and was very active in the local Hingham government. Barbara was also a huge Patriots fan and an “enthusiastic” golfer. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, crossword puzzles and vacations in Maine; she was very handy, and absolutely devoted to her poodles. Barbara was smart, caring, funny, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Barbara was devoted to her family and lived many years with her mother and sister in West Roxbury before moving to Hingham. Loving daughter of the late Richard W. and Monica (McCoy) Sullivan. Cherished sister of Roger W. Sullivan and his wife Marguerite of Hingham and the late Richard Sullivan, Louise Malone, Jeanne Bernard, and Carol Sullivan. Also survived by many adoring nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and extended family.
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Barbara may be made to Office of Development, Mount Holyoke College, PO Box 889, South Hadley, MA 01075.
