Barbara Ann (Lennon) Macelhiney

Mrs. Barbara Anne (Lennon) MacElhiney, of Weymouth, passed away on August 1, 2021.

Barbara was employed as a legal secretary for many years by the New England Life Insurance Company in Boston. She was a proud graduate of the Woodward School for Girls in Quincy and the Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in Boston. A devout Catholic,

Barbara was a parishioner of the Immaculate Conception Church in Weymouth where she was an active volunteer, taught religious education and was known for the great care she took of the altar cloths, ensuring they were pressed to perfection.  Barbara enjoyed playing tennis, traveling with her husband Paul and family, and entertaining friends and family at her Weymouth home, on vacation in Cape Cod and at Boston College football tailgates.

Above all, Barbara was happiest being close to the family she loved and adored, most especially her 5 grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all those that knew and loved her.

Daughter of the late Walter and Grace (Doyle) Lennon.

Beloved wife of 62 years to the late Paul D. MacElhiney of Weymouth.

Loving mother of Paul “Scot” MacElhiney and his wife, Colleen, of Glastonbury, CT, Robert MacElhiney and his wife, Alexis, of Hingham, Nancy Kenney and her husband, Thomas, of Southbury, CT and the late Susan MacElhiney. Sister of Joan Staker of Southbury, CT and her late husband, Jim. Cherished grandmother of Casey, Kelley, Matthew, Danny, and Jack.  Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Monday 4-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital).

Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:30 AM on Tuesdayprior to the Funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church, Weymouth at 10:30 AM.

Burial will follow in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.
