Barbara A. Whelan

Barbara A. Whelan (Sapienza) of Hull, died December 10, 2017 at the age of 71.

The focus of Barbara’s life was her faith and her family. She was originally from Dorchester and moved to Hull as a child where she fell in love with the beach. She worked as a cosmetologist for Total Touch in Milton and La Mirage in Milton for 40 years. She cherished her role as a Mom and grandmother and strongly valued the importance of education.

She was the wife of the late Robert Leo Whelan, whom she met when she was 16. Loving mother of Kimberly A. Mello and her husband Francisco Mello, Jr. of Randolph. Cherished grandmother of Melissa Mello. Loving sister of Theodore Sapienza, Jr. and wife Denise of Weymouth. Devoted aunt of Teddy Sapienza and his wife, Garrett Sapienza and his wife, and Meaghan Sapienza. Great aunt of Wyatt Sapienza.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea Street (off Route 3A – Bicknell Square). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 10:45 AM on Saturday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Parish in St. Ann’s Church, Hull at Noon. Burial in Hull Village Cemetery. Donations in memory of Barbara may be made to Glastonbury Abbey, 16 Hull St., Hingham, MA 02043, Attn: Abbot Thomas.
