Barbara A. Donovan

Donovan, Barbara A. (Todd) Barb of Marshfield, died April 10, 2017.

Barb was born and raised in South Boston, lived in Weymouth for 50 years, and spent three years in Naples, FL before moving to Marshfield six years ago.

She was a graduate of South Boston HS and worked at Houghton Mifflin as a secretary. After marrying Jack Donovan, she stayed at home to raise her four children. They were married for over 25 years. Over the years she kept busy volunteering as a CCD teacher, tending to her children and eventually going back to work at NYNEX after her husband passed away in 1978. She continued to work for the next 15 years until finally retiring to enjoy her family.  

She loved all Boston sports teams but was a diehard Red Sox fan. She loved to cook, travel, and shop.  She spent many winters in her retirement with her eldest son, Jack and her dear friends from 12 Oaks.  Later in life, she found a new passion as an artist with a skill in painting with water colors. She will be remembered for her devotion to her family and friends.  

Beloved wife of the late Jack Donovan. Devoted mother of John “Jack” Donovan, Jr. and his wife Judi of FL, Jim Donovan and his companion Karyn Wendell of Centerville, Kevin Donovan and his wife Debbie of Mashpee and Barbie Shaughnessy and her husband Mark of Westwood. Loving sister of John Todd of VA and the late Paul Todd. Cherished Gram of Ashley and Jake Donovan, Liam Donovan and Jack and Kate Shaughnessy. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Monday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 8:30 AM Tuesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Albert the Great Church, Weymouth at 9:30 AM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
