Barbara A. Burke

Burke, Barbara A. (McDonough) of Squantum, died on Friday, December 25, 2009 she was 69. The beloved wife of 48 years to John J. Burke. Devoted mother of Paul Burke and his wife Michele of Quincy, Patrick and his wife Tracylee of Marshfield, John Burke of Cambridge and Kelly Cox and her husband Brendan of Quincy. Sister of Peter McDonough of Squantum and the late Mary Polvere, Catherine Daly, Mike, Thomas, Coleman, Festus, Patrick, Robert and Paul McDonough. Cherished grandmother of Patrick, Christopher, Kerin, Colleen, Brendan and Ryan. Barbara is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Born in South Boston, Barbara grew up in Savin Hill. She graduated from Cathedral High School Class of 1959. She married John then moved to Squantum back in 1964 where she raised her family. Barbara enjoyed the simple things in life and cherished the time spent with her family. A devout catholic, Barbara was a genuine caregiver. She would always find time to take care of those in need. She nurtured and provided compassion to those less fortunate. She will be remembered as a devoted wife and mother who adored her grandchildren and sadly missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing her. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Tuesday 4- 8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:45AM on Wednesday, prior to the Funeral Mass in Saint Ann’s Church at 10:30 AM. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy.
