Arthur S. Galvin, Jr. of Abington, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, February 14, 2016.

Beloved husband of 62 years to Marjorie (Frost) Galvin of  Abington.  Loving father of Stephen J. Galvin of Holbrook, Elaine Hoyng and her husband Daniel of Weymouth, Kathleen O’Rourke and her husband Kevin of Whitman, Robert Galvin and his wife Denise of Canton, Maureen Carr and her husband James of Holbrook, Michael Galvin and his wife Christine of Weymouth and the late Keith M. Galvin. Loving father-in-law of Jayne Galvin of Weymouth. Dear brother of the late Pauline Sica.  Brother-in-law of Richard Frost and his late wife Linda of Westford and Peter Frost of Natick. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. 

Arthur proudly served his country as a Staff Sargent in the U.S. Airforce during the Korean Conflict.  He was a graduate, class of 1948, of the Commerce School, Boston.  Arthur worked for 45 years as a cost analyst at Stone and Webster Engineering Company and worked over 20 years as a store manager at Atlas Liquors in Quincy.  As a devout catholic he served as an usher in St. Ann’s Parish as well as an accountant on the finance committee at St. Bridget’s Church in Abington. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a Board Member of the Bedford Woods Condo Association in Abington. As a 30 year ticket holder, he was a passionate “Bruins Fan” who loved watching all the Boston sports teams.  Arthur will be remembered for his generous spirit, his hard work, his strong faith and his loving devotion to his family. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital).  Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Friday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Bridget’s Church, Abington at 10:30 AM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Arthur’s memory to either St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675.
