Arlene Marie Burke, a longtime resident of Quincy, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Saturday, October 14, 2023. She was 77.
She was born in Boston to Mary Veronica (Pittman) and Stanley Joseph Burke and raised in Dorchester. Arlene graduated from Monsignor Ryan Memorial High School. She worked for many years as an executive assistant at The Chickering Group, where she excelled at her job. Her strong willed personality served her well in this position and in life. She was very outgoing and made many friends wherever she went.
Arlene loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, entertaining and hosting holiday gatherings. She was an avid reader and a stickler for grammar. You would always find her with a hard cover mystery novel in hand. She loved spending time in the sun at the beach or on her deck often with a newspaper as she was keen on keeping up on current events. Arlene also enjoyed driving around town in her little blue convertible.
Her strength and independence despite the adversity she faced were admired by many. Arlene truly was a fighter to the very end. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Devoted mother to Michelle Burke Holleman and her husband, Christopher, of Quincy and cherished grandmother to Paige Holleman. Loving sister to Paul S. Burke and his late wife Nancy of Hingham, Mary B. Simeone and her husband, Sal, of Stoughton, and Gerald J. Burke and his wife Betty of Weymouth. Also survived by many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visitation on Saturday, November 4th, from 9:30-10:30 AM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., Quincy. Following the visitation, a Funeral Mass will be held at St. Agatha’s Church, Milton at 11 AM.
