Fleming, Antoinette M. “Toni” (Gatens) of Quincy, April 25, 2007. Wife of the late Robert Fleming. Loving mother of Robert Fleming, Jr. and Aileen Lyons and her husband Owen all of Quincy. Sister of Harry Gatens of New Zealand and the late Davie, Jimmy and Frank Gatens and the late Jane McMenemy. Beloved grandmother of Robert & Kimberly Lyons and John & Cheryl Fleming. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral service in the North Quincy Keohane Funeral Home, 333 Hancock St., N. QUINCY, Monday at 10:00 AM. Visiting hours Sunday 3- 7 PM. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy. Antoinette M. (Gatens) Fleming was born in Glasgow, Scotland and served in the British Army during W.W.II. She moved over from Scotland back in 1955. Antoinette graduated from the Wilfred Beauty Academy in Boston and taught at Quincy Beauty Academy for more than 20 years retiring back in 1983. She then opened her own beauty salon called “Toni Salon” located on Billings Road in North Quincy. She closed her shop in 1970 and went back to teaching at Quincy Beauty Academy. Antoinette loved to entertain. She was active in the activites at 1000 Southern Artery, she participated in the plays and shows they put on. For many years Antoinette volunteered at meals on wheels program. Her family remembers how very much she enjoyed being with people. She love to sing and dance and enjoyed visiting local nursing homes to entertain the residents. Antoinette’s pride and joy was her family, especially her grandchildren. She was always proud of her military career and her Scottish heritage. She will be remembered as a fun loving outgoing, beauty women who enjoyed her life. She will be missed by all who knew her.
