Costa, Anthony J. “Tony” of North Quincy, W.W.II Army veteran died suddenly in his home on February 14, 2005. Beloved Husband of the late Mary G. (McGrath) Costa. Loving Father of Patricia A. Ranney and her husband Donald, Frank A. Costa and his wife Janet all of Cohasset and Madeline L. Small and her husband Russell of Plymouth. Brother of Catherine Alibrandi of Quincy, Jennie Feretta of Wilmington and the late Mary Costa, Phyllis Lutoff and Lucy Sclafani. Tony is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home 785 Hancock St. , WOLLASTON Friday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, N. Quincy at 10 AM. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 PM. Burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Tony was born in Boston and grew up in Medford, has 2 nicknames “Tony” & “Nino” at an early age he began working with his father Frank who owned a variety store in Boston. Tony would frequently ride with his father on a horse and food cart carrying groceries from Medford to Boston. The family moved the family business to Medford and it was a Butcher store located on Medford Street in Medford. Tony worked at his family’s store and then enlisted into the United States Army in 1943. He married Mary G. McGrath and they moved to Somerville and started their family. Tony was then commissioned to serve overseas. Tony was a private first class and was assigned to the gun tanks. He was stationed in Germany, France and Italy. The family stayed in Somerville for approx. 12 years before moving to North Quincy. Tony worked as a meat cutter and deli manager for the Capital Supermarket in North Quincy. He also worked as a machinist for the Keystone Camera Company in Dorchester for 25 years retiring back in 1982. He was an active member of Sacred Heart Church in North Quincy and an active member of the North Quincy Senior bowling club. He enjoyed golfing and loved to stroll along Wollaston Beach as well as Castle Island in South Boston. Along with his late wife Mary, Tony loved to travel and visited California, Hawaii, Aruba, France, Ireland, Germany and other European countries.
