Anthony F. Garaffo, 96, of Weymouth, passed away August 18, 2013 at Weymouth Healthcare Center after a period of declining health.
Tony was born in 1917 in Fitchburg where he spent his childhood. Moved to Boston where he lived until moving to Weymouth in 1952 with his wife Mary and their two girls, Gwen and Linda. At the time of his death he was still living in the “little green house”. A WWII Veteran and prisoner of war, Tony spent much of his time at the Loyal Order of Moose where he has been a member since 1955. Tony loved his flowers and Foxwoods, where any number of people called him $1000 Tony! He was eager to share his 50 year old Marigold seeds with anyone that showed interest. Tony will live on through those flowers.
He leaves behind two daughters: Gwen Rimovitz and husband Billy from Brockton, Linda Kearney and John from Hanson. Three granddaughters, Patty Nolan and Bill from E. Bridgewater, Cheryl Devereaux and Paul from Bridgewater, and Shannon MacCormack and Craig from No. Attleboro. Five Great-Grandchildren: Kristen and Sean Nolan, Kara and Amanda Devereaux and Alyssa MacCormack. Also survived by his sister, Lyda Martinelli of Milton, numerous neices and nephews, and wonderful neighbor. Elaine, Rick, and the Walkers who were always there for him.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 3-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home on Thursday at 9:30 AM prior to the Funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church, Weymouth at 10:30 AM.
