Anthony J. Cincotta

Anthony J. Cincotta, a cherished member of the Quincy community, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2025, at the remarkable age of 99. Born on November 16, 1925, Anthony dedicated his life to both his family and his work, making a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to know him.

Raised in Quincy, Anthony began his career as a welder at the Fore River Shipyard, where he gained a reputation for his exceptional skills. His talent and work ethic led him to become a teacher of welding, guiding young men and women who were eager to learn the trade. However, following the death of his father, Anthony made the commendable decision to leave the shipyard to support his mother by running Cincotta's Variety Store on Hancock Street. Under his stewardship, the small shop evolved into a beloved hub for local children, where they could indulge in baseball cards, candy, and hours of Pac-Man. Sundays at the store became a cherished tradition for many, as Anthony’s famous donuts drew families after Mass from St. Anne's Church. His friendly demeanor was often punctuated by his warm greeting, “What’s the good word?” as he welcomed customers from behind the counter.

Anthony was not only a businessman but also a devoted family man. He created countless memories with his loved ones, particularly during the family’s weekly trips to Nantasket Beach, where laughter filled the air as they swam and spent joyous days together. He was known for being a go-getter, reliable, and always ready to lend a helping hand, traits that endeared him to everyone he met.

Throughout his life, Anthony embraced various hobbies and interests, including swimming, playing pool, and bowling. An active member of the Quincy Elks, he was well-respected within the community not only for his contributions as a business owner but also for his generous spirit and commitment to service.

One of Anthony's proudest accomplishments was buying his beloved wife, Marjorie, her dream home on the water in Weymouth, a testament to his love and dedication. His legacy will continue to inspire all who knew him, reflecting a life well-lived and filled with purpose.

Anthony is survived by his beloved children Mark Cincotta of Weymouth and Paula Cincotta of Quincy,  his Grandchildren Michael Cincotta and his wife Lauren of Weymouth and Nicole Cincotta of Holbrook. He is predeceased by his cherished wife Marjorie Cincotta and their sons Anthony J. Cincotta Jr and Albert Cincotta and his daughter in law Gertrude Cincotta.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family at 10AM Saturday 3/8/2025 at St. Jerome's Church, Weymouth prior to the funeral mass at 10:30 AM. Burial to follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy.
