Anne Marie Roundtree

Anne Marie (Carey) Roundtree, aka Annie Bannanie, aka Ma, 63, of Abington (formerly of Rockland) passed away January 17, 2023. She passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones.

Anne was born in Hull on August 21, 1959. Daughter of the late Norman and Doris Carey. She was the youngest of three siblings. Survived by her sister Norma (Carey) Snowdale, and brother Charles “Chuck” Carey and his wife Valerie. Loving mother to her son Tyler Phillip Roundtree and daughter Ashlie Dawn Roundtree. Devoted grandmother otherwise known as “Nannie” to Isaiah, Darius, Luke, Lydia, and Noel. Cherished mother-in-law to Tyler’s wife Nina Roundtree.

Anne spent her childhood in Hull, MA. She loved going to the beach with friends, walking down the boardwalk, playing skee-ball at the arcade, taking road trips, and going to concerts. She graduated Hull High School in 1977. Spending the next 6 years waitressing and working office jobs where she formed special bonds with her customers and coworkers that lasted a lifetime. Anne then married in 1983 and moved to Rockland to start a family.

Anne spent her 30s and 40s hosting pool parties and making memories with the neighbors, taking her family on camping trips, and attending massive family parties in Weymouth and Hingham for the holidays. But even with a swimming pool and overwhelming fear of seagulls, there’s no one that loved the beach more than Anne.

Once her children were grown, Anne spent her 50s and 60s really discovering herself and finding new things that made her happy. One of her favorite things to do was spend time with her niece Danielle (Galiano) Cicerone going to lunch to play Keno and people watch. No one loved good gossip and eaves dropping more than Anne while enjoying a bowl of New England clam chowdah. Anne was also a huge bargain hunter so her and Danielle spent countless hours at stores and yard sales picking out the perfect things for everyone she loved. There was never a more thoughtful person than Anne, she could give you a pack of gum and it would be the best gum you’ve ever had. Her grandchildren will forever have the memory of Anne showing up for every birthday and Christmas with a small truck load of the most thoughtful, personal, and precious gifts. Anne loved music and dancing around the living room with her grandchildren, and endless amounts of hugs and kisses for her little babies. There are not enough ways to describe such a special person as Anne. She helped raise every kid in the neighborhood and never stopped worrying about everyone else. The expression on her face while spending time with her family and friends will forever be etched on our hearts.

We invite you to join us in honoring this unforgettable woman.
