Anne Maclean

MacLean, Anne (Clasby) of Weymouth, formerly of Dorchester, passed away July 6, 2022, at her home in Linden Ponds, Hingham, MA.

Anne had a strong Catholic faith that was nurtured from a young age.  She attended St. Ann’s Grammar School in Dorchester MA, and The Mount Saint Joseph Academy in Brighton MA. After high school graduation Anne began working for the Catholic School Office of the Archdiocese of Boston as an administrative assistant. Once she began to have her family, Anne worked from home typing book transcripts that would later become learning material for the grammar schools associated with the Archdiocese of Boston. In 1977, Anne returned to the office, working as the treasurer at Archbishop Williams High School (AWHS). After retiring in 2000, she continued to be involved at AWHS as a member of the Board of Trustees and the Advisory Board. Anne met the love of her life, George, on the dance floor at Moseley’s on the Charles Ballroom in Dedham MA. Anne and George married young in 1957 and moved to Quincy where they raised their five children. Anne was an active member at St. Joseph’s Parish in Quincy Point and a member of the St. Joseph’s Ladies Sodality. She was a Cub Scout and Girl Scout Leader and always volunteered to assist with any activities in which her children participated. In 1977, Anne and George moved to Weymouth. There they loved hosting many family and friends gatherings. Whether in Quincy, Weymouth or later in life at Linden Ponds in Hingham, Anne made sure the house felt like a home, a place where her children, grandchildren, family, and friends were always welcome. Anne was an avid reader and great cook but most of all she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Beloved wife of 62 years to the late George H. MacLean. Loving mother of Charles MacLean and Bernadette of Plymouth, Noreen MacLean and Michael Bennett of Weymouth, Laura MacLean and Matthew McAloon of Dorchester, Edward MacLean and Steven Avruch of Boston and the late Timothy MacLean and his former wife Ellen MacLean of Florida. Treasured sister of Michael Quinn and Elizabeth of Maryland, Dorothy Chateau of Michigan and the late Joseph and Anne Clasby and Paul and Mary Clasby. Sister-in-law of Sheila MacLean of Marshfield. Cherished “Gram” of Chuck, Jessica, Stephanie, Samantha, Patrick, Alexandra, Ryan, Jona, and Christine. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
