Smith, Anne M. (MacDonald) a longtime Quincy resident, died peacefully at home on January 28, 2015, she was 89.
The beloved wife of the late Charles A. Smith, Sr. Loving mother of Anne M. Smith of Quincy and Charles A. Smith, Jr. and his wife Nancy of Rockland. Devoted grandmother of Daniel C. Smith of Brookline and Brian R. Smith of South Boston. Daughter of the late Allan MacDonald and Margaret (MacPherson) MacDonald. Sister of Allan RJ MacDonald of North Attleboro and his late wife Marilyn, the late Catherine ‘Kay’ MacDonald, the late Phyllis Downey and her late husband James. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Anne was born in Boston and grew up in Forest Hills, Jamaica Plain. She graduated from Roxbury Memorial School for Girls and worked at the Shawmut Bank in Boston and later at the Hancock Bank in Quincy. Anne was a very talented seamstress. She also enjoyed crocheting, baking and bowling. She was always up for the challenge of word solving puzzles. Anne enjoyed traveling and some of Anne’s fondest memories were of winters on Marco Island, FL and summers at Lake Ossippee, NH. She was a member of the Ladies of St. James Society and the St. James Bowling League. Anne will always be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her faith and her family were the cornerstones of all that was truly important to her. She will be sadly missed.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday at 9:45am prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, North Quincy at 10:30 AM. Burial in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Anne may be made to the Alzheimers Association, Mass Chapter, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
