Anne M. (Mcgowan) Mackey

Anne M. (McGowan) Mackey, of Hull and formerly of Hingham, died peacefully on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at Atria Marina Place in Quincy. She was 87.

Anne was born in Framingham on June 22, 1935, and was the daughter of the late Francis and Elizabeth (Roberts) McGowan. Anne was raised in Natick, attended local schools and graduated from Natick High School. She continued her education at Framingham State College, where she earned her undergraduate degree in education. Anne went on to teach for Vernon Public Schools in Connecticut, before retiring in 1977 to raise her family.

Anne was the beloved wife of the late John J. Mackey, with whom she shared many loving years of marriage. She was the devoted mother of Marie B. Mackey of Quincy, and Daniel F. Mackey and his wife Annie of Virginia. Anne was the loving grandmother of John E. Mackey and his wife Jaime of Florida and Tara Rose Mackey of Virginia. She was the loving great grandmother of Danny and Tommy Mackey, both of Florida. She was the dear sister of the late Edward McGowan and late Jean Hickson. Anne is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Following cremation, relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Monday, July 24, 2023, at 10 AM in St. Paul’s Church, 147 North St., Hingham, MA 02043.

Services will conclude with interment in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham.

Visiting hours are omitted.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in Anne’s name to the charitable organization of one’s choice.
