Anne M. Gillis

Anne M. Gillis, 73, died peacefully December 8, 2011 at her brother’s home in Hingham after a six month battle with pancreatic cancer. Anne was born in Westfield, daughter of the late Edwin & Alice (Sorensen) & Mary (Wise) Gillis. She was a graduate of Trinity College in Washington DC and Simmons School of Social Work. She made her home in Cambridge and Watertown for the past fifty years where she was a dedicated Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Anne was especially caring and generous and was loved by all whose lives she touched and improved in so many ways. She loved to travel, loved to sing and especially loved being near the ocean. She relished and was in awe of every new experience. In addition to many beloved friends Anne leaves a sister, Melinda of Walnut Creek, California, two brothers, Mark of Fort Myers, Florida and Edwin of Hingham, MA, eight nieces and nephews and two grand nieces. Services for Anne will be private.
