Anne E. (Doyle) George

Anne Elizabeth (Doyle) George, 89, passed on February, 5, 2016,  after a brief illness.

She was the daughter of David and Mary (Cummings) Doyle and the widow of Walter Sterling George. They were married for 49 years. She grew up and attended school in Quincy, moving to North Weymouth in 1958.  She moved to North Weymouth in 1958.  She is survived by two siblings, Mary Sheila Murray and Gregory Doyle and predeceased by two brothers, David and Daniel Doyle.

She is also survived by eight children, Walter Douglas George (Joanne) of Amherst, Anastacia Como (Edward) of Berlin, Connecticut, Judith O’Shea (Donald) of Gurnee, Illinois, Patricia Munoz (Jairo) of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Stephanie George of Hull, Jennifer MacLellan (David) of Wareham, Christine Smith (Jeffrey) of Merrimack, New Hampshire and Marianne Ripin (Peter) of Ardsley, New York. Additionally, she leaves behind eleven adored grandchildren: Jason Keane and Daniel O’Shea, Jessica George Grygorcewicz (Adam), Patrick and Samuel Munoz, Jonathan Como, Elizabeth, Ian and Angus MacLellan, Abigail and Isabelle Ripin as well as two great grandchildren: Charity and Keagan O’Shea.  She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews. 

Anne was an active parishioner at St Jerome Church serving as a Eucharistic Minister and belonged to the Ladies Guild. St Jerome’s was an important part of her life. Anne and Walter participated in many fundraisers and social activities sponsored by the Knights of Columbus as well as volunteering at Father Bill’s. Anne loved to bowl and play golf and enjoyed celebrating the Fourth of July watching the fireworks at Wessagussett Beach with her family. She was active in the Weymouth Civic Association, TOPS, the Newcomers Club, the Red Hat Society, and the Whipple Center. Over the years, Anne developed many cherished friendships within all of these groups that she enjoyed a great deal. When she wasn’t raising her eight children, she found time to work for the Quincy District Court and later the South Shore Alarm Co in North Weymouth.  In lieu of flowers please make donations to St. Joseph’s Indian School, PO Box 326, Chamberlain, SD 57326 or www.stjo.org

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Monday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea Street (off RT.3A-Bicknell Sq.)  Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Tuesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Jerome Church, Weymouth at 10 AM.

Burial in Old North Cemetery, Weymouth.
