Anna M. (Gentile) Orsie

Orsie, Anna M. (Gentile) of Braintree, formerly of S. Boston, passed away on November 16, 2023 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was 87 years old.

Born in Carbondale, PA to Italian immigrants, Anna was one of eight children to the late Dominic and Teresa (Zaccone) Gentile.

Anna was known to her family has being the matriarch of the house. She was an outgoing and gracious woman, always letting family and friends know that they come first in her eyes. Anna loved to play solitaire, shop, go out to eat, and enjoy the company of those around her. She played violin at a young age and also was treasurer of the Braintree Woman’s Club. Alongside her husband John, they were part of the Braintree Pigeon’s Club. The two would travel far and wide for pigeon conferences. The two also enjoyed boating and doing activities with their children. After John’s passing in 1990, Anna immersed herself in her work. She was a proud employee of the Braintree Cooperative Bank and retired with 29 years of service. Anna also thrived when she became a grandmother. She was truly a one of a kind woman and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Cherished wife to the late John Orsie. Beloved mother to Judith A. Orsie of Weymouth, Beverly Howland and her husband Kenneth of Braintree, and Jack Orsie and his wife Christine of Braintree. Doting grandmother to Cara Orsie-Johnson and her husband Edgar, Matthew Orsie, Abigail Howland, Zachary Howland, and Sam Orsie. Great-grandmother to Jacob and Helena. Sister of Eileen Mecagni of Needham.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Monday, November 27 from 9:00 – 10:30 AM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 10:30AM on Monday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth at 11 AM. Burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury. Donations in Anna’s name may be made to Alzheimer’s Assn., MA Chapter, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA 02452.
