Anna M. (Stephens) Blandino, 89, of Braintree, (formerly of Dorchester) passed away on January 2, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Snowshoe, PA and was the daughter of the late Arthur & Laura Ruth Stephens. She was the youngest daughter of nine siblings. Anna was the wife of the late, Rocco Blandino. She is survived by her children Karen (Natale) Umbro of Plymouth, Donna Andre of Dedham, Julie (Joe) Umbro of Waltham, and Christina (Cory) Morgan of Mystic, CT. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Anna was proud to be a licensed CNA and began her career at the Star of David Nursing Center. In her later career she went on to serve many private clients, who often became part of her extended family. Anna had a lifelong commitment to caring for others, whether it was friends or family that were in need of care, she was there to lend a hand.
Anna learned to be an outstanding cook from her mother-in-law and followed in the Italian tradition of setting a beautiful Sunday table that started with homemade fruit cup and ended with nuts and desserts. She loved to bake delicious cream puffs. Those delicate delights were an expression of her love, fragile and filled with sweetness.
One of the joys she and Rocco loved was taking to the dance floor with their jitterbug/swing moves. People often stepped aside to allow them to show off their talents.
Anna became a Jehovah’s Witness in the 1960’s and maintained her faithful service until her death. Her faith truly sustained her through the many challenges in life and losses she suffered. She would kindly share the scriptures as a comfort to those who needed it and were open to listening.
