Kane, Anna M. “Anne” (Cassidy) of Quincy formerly of Stoneham, February 12, 2005. Beloved wife of John W. Kane of Quincy. Loving mother of Ellen Kane Kelly of Boston, Anne Cashman of Wakefield, RI and Susan Kane Driscoll of Medford. Sister of the late William, Robert, Richard and Eleanor Cassidy. Cherished grandmother of Dylan, Michaela and Hannah Cashman and Willa Driscoll. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Lived briefly in Everett before moving to Stoneham, MA. Graduated Stoneham High School in 1940. Graduated Emmanuel College in Boston in 1944. Worked as a chemist at Dewey and Almy in Cambridge, MA, from 1944 to 1952. Married to John W. Kane in 1949. Lived briefly in Arlington, MA before moving to Quincy in 1956. Longtime member of Sacred Heart Parish in North Quincy, MA, where she taught Christian doctrine and wrote a history of the parish. Participated in “Friends in Service Helping (FISH) program, driving elderly and disabled. Long term involvement in numerous organizations for the betterment of the community and people’s lives. President of the League of Women Voter’s of Quincy. Involved in efforts to establish a hot lunch and nutritional program for Quincy school children and in efforts to preserve Black’s Creek and the saltmarshes along Wollaston Beach in Quincy. Active in Quincy, State and national politics. Recipient the South Shore Women’s Political Caucus Woman of the Year Award. 1977. Longtime member of the Board of Directors of Quincy Community Action Program. She joined the Board of QCAP, Inc. in the early 60’s, representing the Quincy League of Women Voters on the Board, and continued her never failing interest in the activities of this anti-poverty agency until her death. She served as the President of the board for many years. Longtime member of the Board of Directors of Greater Boston Legal Services. Received Memorial Service Award in 1988 from GBLS “for devoted service to legal services for the poor” Longtime member of the South Shore Elder Services Citizens Advisory Board. Recipient of the 2000 Edythe Donkin Award for “Outstanding contribution to South Shore elders through community services and leadership” Faithful and active member of the boards of the following organizations: Manet Community Health Center in Quincy. South Shore Mental Health Center. Official Citation from the Massachusetts State Senate in recognition of receiving the South Shore Day Care Services 1988 Rosemary Wahlberg Children’s Choice Award for “Outstanding dedication to children and their families” Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the North Quincy Keohane Funeral Home 333 Hancock St., NORTH QUINCY Wednesday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, N. Quincy at 10 AM. Visiting hours Tuesday 3-8 PM. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy. Donations in memory of Mrs. Kane may be made to Manet Community Health Center 1193 Sea St. Quincy, MA 02169 or Quincy Community Action Programs, 1509 Hancock Street Quincy, MA 02169.
