Ann T. (McDonagh) “Nan Jack” Cotter of Manchester, N.H., died peacefully on April 7, 2016. Ann and her family lived in Dorchester for 37 years and subsequently resided in Quincy for 19 years. The beloved wife of the late William J. Cotter. Loving mother of John Cotter of Quincy, Ann Marie Shaheen and her husband Bruce of Groton, William M. Cotter and his wife Susan of Boston and Barbara Scenna and her husband Stephen of Londonderry, NH. Sister of Bridget “Bridie” Greenleaf of Wilmington. Ann is predeceased by 13 brothers and sisters. Cherished grandmother of Shannon, Sal and Stephen Scenna, Jr. and Gina and Michael Cotter.
Ann was born on the island of Innisherk, Lettermullen, County Galway, Ireland, the daughter of Jack and Bridget (Flaherty) McDonagh. She will be remembered for her faith, generosity, loving spirit, devotion to family, work ethic and love of laughter. She inspired her family and all who came to know her.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Monday 4-8 p.m. in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., Quincy. A celebration of life service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday prior to the funeral Mass in Holy Trinity Parish at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Quincy, at 10 a.m. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ann may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005.
