Stanton, Ann (Shionis) of Quincy, formerly of Jamaica Plain, passed away May 8, 2011 at the age of 87. Devoted and affectionate mother of Mark Stanton and his wife Leanne of East Bridgewater, Cynthia Stanton and her husband Craig Zaehring of Lexington, Sylvia and her husband Mark Cuqua of Walpole, and the late Jonathan Stanton. Adored “Yaya” of Emily, Vanessa, Rebecca, Mark, Christopher, Steven, and her little princess Jenny. Sister of the late Christopher, Jenny “Iris”, Beatrice, John, George, Charles, and Theodore. Sister in law of Martha Shionis of Bridgewater and Betty Shionis of Quincy. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. For over 20 years, Ann worked as a waitress at the Union Oyster House in Boston. She was a member of the 1000 Southern Artery Bowling League at O’Lindy’s in Quincy and an avid card player. Her family will always remember her amazing strength and independence. She was extremely generous, had a wonderful sense of humor, and was beloved and admired by everyone she knew. Most of all, Ann devoted her life to her family. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9 AM on Thursday prior to the Funeral Service in St. Catherine’s Greek Orthodox Church, Braintree at 10 AM. Burial in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Boston. Donations in memory of Anne may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284.
