Ann Elizabeth Doherty-Stuart of Quincy, passed away peacefully at home with loving family by her side on Sunday, March 6, 2022. She was 68 years old. Ann was born in Quincy on June 5, 1953 and was the eldest child of the late Edward and Therese (Fostello) Doherty. She was raised in Braintree and was a 1971 graduate of Braintree High School.
Ann adored her daughter, Valerie, and her three grandchildren, Donovan, Bernadette, and Callum; they were her pride and joy! She loved spending time with her grandchildren helping them with fun projects. Being a creative person, Ann enjoyed working in her craft room making unique gifts for the people she loved.
“Nana” left her grandchildren with unforgettable memories by leaving them countless cards with special messages just to say hi, to let them know they were loved, and a simple ‘thinking of you’. Their bunnies and blankets will forever hold her stitching used to mend the holes and tears from being loved so much.
Ann was known to bring delicious appetizers to holiday gatherings. Everyone anticipated her Mexican dip, which would be devoured within minutes of it being put on the table. She loved bringing desserts that would delight the younger children in the family. She would make cars out of Hostess Twinkies with marshmallow Peeps as the driver of the cars.
As a prayer warrior, Ann also found comfort and strength in Christian music and the reading of the Holy Bible. She was an avid journalist and enjoyed writing her thoughts down.
4th of July was always a fun, family and friends celebration at Ann’s. A cookout followed by a walk to the beach to lay out on blankets to watch the fireworks was a tradition to look forward to yearly. She was a true and dedicated friend. Her door was always open for a visit and a cup of coffee. Ann not only listened, she heard you.
Always finding time for her nieces and nephews was a definite priority for Ann. She had so much to offer them, and they loved it. It could be anything from babysitting to showing up for school events and even meetings. Definitely a one-of-a-kind lady. She will be greatly missed and forever treasured.
Good night Mom, Nana, Sister, and Friend. We love you and miss you. Forever holding you in our hearts, rest peacefully and God Bless you. Amen.
