Ann C. O’Connor

O’Connor, Ann C. (Forge), age 97, of Quincy, formerly of South Boston, died peacefully on May 25, 2016 at Hancock Park Skilled Nursing Facility in Quincy. 

In her early years, Ann was a registered medical secretary and certified medical assistant. She worked for many years for Roy J. Heffernan, M.D. and for other physicians associated with Boston hospitals before her retirement in 1984. She was a graduate of Emmanuel College and the Carnegie Institute where she received a certificate as a medical assistant.  Ann lived at 1000 Southern Artery, Quincy, for more than 25 years. She was a daily communicant at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Quincy.  She was a member of the BVM Sodality at St. Joseph’s, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Society, Carney Hospital Women’s Auxiliary, the Massachusetts Association of Medical Assistants, the Castle Island Association and the Quincy Historical Society. 

Ann was the beloved wife of the late William F. O’Connor and daughter of the late Florence and Joseph Forge.  She is preceded in death by her sisters and their husbands, Pauline and J. Walter Bonanno, and Edith and Philip Perry.  She is survived by eight loving nieces and nephews, Suzanne Perry, Richard Bonanno and Patricia Cloonan, Donna Perry, Diane and Carl Cierpial, Theresa Bonanno, Robert Bonanno and Ann Marie Black, Robert Perry and Mary McNamara, Maria Perry and John Stock, five grandnieces and two grand nephews. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Saturday from 9:00-10:30 AM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Joseph’s Church, Quincy at 11 AM.  Burial in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Boston. 

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ann may be made to St. Jude’s Research Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101, www.stjude.org.
