Angelo R. Catalano

Angelo R. Catalano of Weymouth, passed away February 26, 2016 at the age of 88 surrounded by his loved ones.

Angelo was a longtime member of the Weymouth Lodge of Elks #2232 and the American Legion Cyril P. Morrisette Post 294 in Quincy. While serving in the Navy with the Navy Air Force and Amphibious Navy during WWII, Angelo’s squad supported Operation Blue Jay in the North Pole. Their VR6 heavy transportation planes were vital in transporting squads as part of the Berlin Air Lift as well as supplying coal and fuel as the Russians sealed off Berlin. He also served in the Korean War. Angelo worked as a tool and dye maker for many years.

Beloved husband of the late Marie E. (DiGloria) Catalano. Loving father of Robert Catalano of Quincy, Debra Marie Lorenzo and husband Ralph of Foxborough, and Lori Catalano of Weymouth. Brother of Josephine Gagliardi, Angelina Toscano, the late Emmanuel “Manny” Catalano, the late Mary Scopa, the late Phyllis Amoroso, the late Rose DiFraia, the late Joseph Catalano, the late Frances Cannata, the late Robert Catalano and the late Dorothy “Dolly” DeRosa. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 8:35 AM on Wednesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Albert the Great Church, Weymouth at 9:30 AM. Burial in MA National Cemetery, Bourne.Donations in memory of Angelo may be made to Disabled American Veterans, State House, Room 546, Boston, MA 02133.
