Manjos, Angelo A. “Mike” of Hingham, passed away on May 26, 2010. He was 88 years old. Mr. Manjos was the son of the late Arthur and Lillian (Voutsinou) Manjos. Beloved husband of the late Helen (Samargedlis). Cherished father of Pamela Griffin and her companion Daniel Paine of Plymouth, Stacey M. Page and her husband David B. of Hingham and Michael Manjos and his wife Kathleen of Monroe, CT. Devoted grandfather of Michele, Michael , Sara, Matthew, Mitchell and Max. Angelo was born in Worcester and raised in Boston. He graduated from English High School class of 1940 and also attended school in Greece. Angelo was also a graduate of Aero Industries Tech in CA completing his training in Aeronautical Engineering, design and drafting. He enlisted in the United States Army Air Corp in 1943, flying missions and navigation couriers abroad serving as a 1st Lieutenant until 1946. Mr. Manjos together with his wife of 50 years moved and in 1948 founded Hingham Jewelers, a Hingham landmark, until his retirement. Of all his accomplishments both academic and professional including having been a pilot, Free Mason and a past President of the Massachusetts and Rhode Island Jewelers Association one of his proudest moments was becoming a published author in 1994 with his book “Borrowings from the Greek” a lexicon that is still being used in Greek education today. He enjoyed travel to Greece and spending time with his wife in their condo in Florida. He enjoyed staying active and loved to swim. He would often be seen walking or riding his bicycle to work in lieu of driving. Angelo will be sadly missed by all who had the enjoyment to share in his wit and charm. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Tuesday 4 – 8 in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15AM on Wednesday, prior to the Funeral Service in Panagia Greek Orthodox Church, 811 Jerusalem Road, Cohasset at 10:00 AM. Burial in High Street Cemetery, Hingham. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mr. Manjos may be made to Panagia Greek Orthodox Church, or to Hospice of the South Shore, 100 Bay State Road, Braintree, MA 02184.
