Angela (DiMino) Zapata, of Quincy, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Milton. She was 86.
Born in Boston on January 7, 1935, she was raised in Boston’s North End and was the daughter of the late Cologero and Angelina (Correnti) DiMino. Angela attended local Catholic schools and graduated from Julie Billiart High School. She also took courses after high school to become a stenographer, working part time in local Boston Courts.
Angela was a Medford High School lunch lady, and was a branch manager at the old Shawmut Bank for 15-20 years in Belmont, Cambridge, and Malden after raising her three children.
A person of great faith, she was an active member of Sacred Heart Church in Boston’s North End when she was young. After moving to Medford in 1964, she enlisted as a parishioner of Saint Josephs Parish and was an active member and past President of the Saint Joseph’s Mothers Club.
The most important part of Angela’s life was her unwavering devotion and love of her family. That devotion of love and life lessons are part of her legacy that continue throughout her family. Angela was also the best bargain hunter shopper, another passion.
Angela was the beloved wife of the late Fernando “Sonny” Zapata, with whom she shared many loving years of marriage. She was the devoted mother of Richard F. “Richie” Zapata and his late wife Maryellen of Quincy, Roselle A. Riley and her husband William of New Hampshire, and Carl F. Zapata and his late partner Dawn Nelson of Quincy. Grandmother of William, James, Richard, Kevin, Michael, Carl, and Cayla. Loving great grandmother of McKenzie, Micah, Bridget, and Keira. Dear sister of Anthony DiMino and his wife Christina of Nevada, and Maria DiMino of Medford. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held privately.
Angela’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at the Divine Mercy Parish in St. Ann’s Church, 757 Hancock St., Quincy. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
Immediately following the Funeral Mass, her funeral procession to the cemetery will leave from the Keohane Funeral Home parking lot, 785 Hancock St., Quincy.
Services will conclude with interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in Angela’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
