Andrew D. Holland, a Quincy resident for over 50 years, and formerly of Dorchester, died peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at the John Scott House. He was 84.
Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Thomas and Lillian (McCarthy) Holland. Andrew attended local schools and graduated high school with the Class of 1953. After high school, Andrew enlisted into the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on March 3, 1959.
Andrew was an avid sports fan, whether it be football, baseball, basketball or hockey at both the professional and high school level. He loved to travel, and especially enjoyed his several trips to Ireland where he met many of his relatives. He made friends wherever he went and was liked by all who met him. He always enjoyed a friendly debate on any topic. Andrew was a generous man and should anyone ever need help doing something, he was always the first to volunteer his time. He was a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
Andrew was the loving partner of Phyllis E. McAveeney of Walpole. The two have been at each other’s side since November 6, 1968. Together they’ve shared 51 years. He was the devoted father of Kimberley A. McAveeney of Mansfield and Donna L. Mascioli and her husband Carl of Framingham. Andrew was the loving grandfather of Alexandra, Alyssa, Madison, Nicholas, Andrew and Michael Krysko, all of Mansfield and Justin, Kyle, Kaleigh, Nicole and Connor Mascioli, all of Framingham. He was the cherished uncle of Charles L. Shea and his wife Susan of Quincy and Thomas M. Shea and his wife Noreen of Braintree. Andrew is also survived by many loving great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings Mary Holland, John Holland and Cecilia Shea.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday, April 4th, 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9 AM on Friday, April 5th, prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM.
Services will conclude with interment in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.
