Born in Palermo Sicily, Italy, he was a son of the late Francesco and Vincenza (Daquisto) Scardina. Andrea was raised and educated in Italy, and served a term in the Italian Military on board a submarine. He later emigrated to the United States, and worked for many years as a lobster packer for the James Hook Co. of Boston. Andrea enjoyed gardening and fishing, and was a big fan of CSI. The greatest joys in his life came from time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He was the proud grandfather of Andrew, Kiara, Louis, Matthew, Michael, Tommy, Talia, and Joey. He was the brother of Anna Maria Whitney of Everett and her husband Vernon, and the late Thomas and Joseph Scardina. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
