Andrea Joyce (Demars) Walsh

Andrea J. (DeMars) Walsh, 83, of Lynn formerly of Cambridge and Peabody. Died peacefully at Tufts High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill, on Wednesday November 1, 2023, following a period of failing health.

Andrea lived and grew up in Winsted, a beautiful small town in Connecticut. She came to Massachusetts following her graduation from her alma mater, the Gilbert School; always holding her fellow classmates and experience as a beautiful time of her life. Most recently having to miss her 65th class reunion due to her poor heath. Her roots were very important to her, and she always held them close to her heart.

Following graduation, she pursued a nursing career in Massachusetts. Andrea entered nurses training at McLean Hospital in Waltham, ultimately becoming a registered nurse. Her career spanned 48 years, mostly in Somerville Hospital. She helped to deliver many babies into this world, cared for the most ill in the Intensive Care Unit and finally as a surgical nurse. She had a true passion that allowed her to be present for so many. She will always be held in such high regard for her care by patients and colleagues alike. Her loving nature was perfectly suited for her chosen career.

Andrea had many roles in this life; daughter, sister, niece, wife, mother, aunt, cousin, companion, grand and great grandmother, and dear friend to many. All, so important to those blessed to know her. Life presented many challenges for her that she rose above with grace and resolve. Each relationship with or without knowing was blessed with her own sense of knowing difficulty and honoring and respecting others as they, along with her, move through this journey of life.

She is survived by all that loved her. Her three sons, Roger and his wife, Laura Graham Walsh of Rockland, Paul of Lynn and Timothy of Bradford; her niece Kerry Robinson of CT, who was very much a daughter to Andrea, and her family; her sisters, Diana “Esta” Green of Alabama and Elizabeth Beyus of CT; her grandchildren, Brianne Walsh and her husband, Edward O’Neil of Weymouth, Amanda Walsh and her husband, Kurt Rocha of Providence, RI, Sophya and Liam Walsh of Bradford; her great grandchildren, Arlow Mae, Declan, Sutton, Lincoln and Rivers. She is also survived by four additional nieces and many cousins; her former husband, Edmund J Walsh of Rockland, as well as a host of many special friends she held dear. She was the daughter of the late Frank Harrison and Frances (Morton) DeMars.
