Principato, Alphonse A. of Quincy, passed away August 19, 2012. Beloved husband of the late Barbara (Brosnahan) Principato. Loving father of Donna P. Sawyer and her husband Robert of Canton, MA, Paul J. Principato and his wife Donna of Quincy, MA, and Catherine E. McNamara and her husband John of Underhill, VT. Loving brother of Josephine Russo of Winchester, MA, and her deceased husband Salvatore Russo, brother to the the late Vincent and Charles Principato, survived by his wife Nadine Principato of Abington, MA, and deceased sister-in-law Mary (Brosnahan) Karaberis of Quincy, MA. Cherished grandfather of Julia and Paige Sawyer, Joseph and Nicole Principato & Allison and Aidan McNamara. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Alphonse was a true family man who adored his wife, children and most importantly his grandchildren. His faith was an important part of his life and he was a head usher at the 7AM Sunday Mass in St. Ann’s Church for years. He also was an ardent supporter of Catholic education. A longtime member of the North Quincy Knights of Columbus, he took part in many of their charitable endeavors. A United States Army Veteran, Al served during the Korean Conflict. He later worked for many years as a print foreman for Halliday Lithograph in Hanover. A sports fan, Al rooted for all the professional hometown teams and had a special affection for Boston College. He loved to cook and was known for his fabulous meatballs and gravy. He cared for his neighbors and helped them whenever he could. Most of all Al was a hardworking provider who was both friendly and energetic with a wonderful sense of humor. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday from 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 8:15 AM on Saturday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 9 AM. Burial in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. Donations in memory of Alphonse may be made to St. Ann’s Church, 757 Hancock Street, Quincy, MA 02170.
