Alice Marie Helfrich

Helfrich, Alice Marie a lifelong Quincy resident, died August 1, 2014.

Alice Marie was educated at St. John’s Parochial School, Fontbonne Academy and Regis College. She had several phases of her life, first  she was a devoted daughter to her parents as they aged gracefully through the years.  They enjoyed traveling together to China, Japan and Europe. The next phase of her life was her devotion to her students, they adored her and in return her always considered them her extended family. Alice Marie taught in the Quincy School system for more than 36 years.  After her retirement, she enjoyed being devoted to her cherished dog Suosi. She enjoyed gardening growing plants, flowers and vegetables.  She will be remembered for her style, grace and devotion to her family and career. She will be missed by all those who were fortunate to have known her. 

The beloved daughter of the late Dr. William R. Helfrich, Sr. and Alice (Savage) Helfrich. Sister of  William R. Helfrich, Jr. MD and his wife Pamela of North Weymouth and John Savage Helfrich, MD and his wife Susan of Champagne, ILL. Dear aunt of William, Kristen, Susan, John, James, Joseph, Jeffrey and Jacob. She is also survived by many great nieces and great nephews. Dear friend of John Conroy of Quincy. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 3-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Saturday prior to the Funeral Mass in Holy Trinity Parish at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in  Pine Hill Cemetery. Donations in memory of Alice Marie may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284 or to Children’s Hospital, 300 Longwood Ave., Boston, MA 02115.
