Alice I. Tarbox

Alice I. (Thornley) Tarbox  of Quincy, died May 6, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.  The beloved wife of the late Charles Tarbox. Devoted mother of Charles “Chuck” Tarbox of Braintree.  Elissa “ Lisa “McDonagh  and her husband Edward of Quincy and the late Kenneth and James Tarbox. Daughter of the late Frederick and Helen (Powers) Thornley. Loving sister of Sr. Augustine Thornley, Carmelite Sisters of the Aged and Infirm, Marion Manor – South Boston, Pauline Sullivan and her husband John of Quincy and the late Arthur Thornley.  Sister in Law of Alice Thornley of Weymouth. Cherished grandmother of Michael J., Kevin T. and Carolyn H. McDonagh all of Quincy. Alice is also survived by many nieces and nephews and dear friends. 

A longtime Quincy resident, Alice worked as a postal clerk for many years before her retirement. She enjoyed traveling across the United States, Canada and Europe and truly cherished her time at Disney with her grandchildren. She had a very special place in her heart for her animals. Alice enjoyed the simple things in life, but the foundation of her life was her family and her faith. She will be dearly missed by all those who were blessed to have known her. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 am Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in Holy Trinity Parish at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Quincy at Thursday at 10am.

Burial in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
