McCracken, Alice A. (MacFarlane) of Hingham, died May 14, 2014, surrounded by family. She was 97 years old.
Born in Boston and raised in Dorchester, she was a graduate of Dorchester High for Girls and Boston Business School. As a young girl she worked during her summer break at Dutchland Farms in Scituate now known as PJ’s Restaurant. Her main working life was in Banking from Bank of Boston to Local Banks. She was a resident of Hingham for over 50 years including her last 10 years as a resident of Queen Anne Nursing Home where she enjoyed living and was well cared for. She loved painting and especially her time with her family.
Beloved wife of the late Joseph McCracken. Loving mother of Joan White, Joseph McCracken, Eileen McCracken Fournier, Barbara Tharp all of Hingham and Mary Mailloux of Lynn. Sister of the late Ruth MacFarlane and Louise Gammons MacNeil. Sister-in-law of Elizabeth McCracken of Rockland. Grandmother to Michael White, Jeanine Kane, Christine Searcy, Lisa McCracken, Eric McCracken, Tammy Bell, Paul, Phillip and Peter Mailloux, Steven McCracken and Joseph Tharp. Also survived by 13 Great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 2-6 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 10:15 AM on Monday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Paul’s Church, Hingham at 11 AM. Burial in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham.
In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Alice may be made to The Queen Anne Nursing Home Activities Fund, 50 Recreation Park Drive, Hingham MA 02043 or to The Alzheimers Assn., MA Chapter, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
