It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alfred Mosko – dear husband, father and (great)grandfather – on December 2nd 2023 at the age of 96. He will be fondly remembered by his wife, Zhaneta, who he shared 62 loving years of marriage, and devoted care in his final years. He was the beloved father of Angela (Vaske) and Edlira (Thomas), and cherished “Gjyshi” by his three granddaughters, Eva (Matthew), Teah and Jody, and most recently, his great granddaughter, Sloane.
Alfred was born in 1927 in Korça, Albania to Angje and Vasil. After completing a chemistry degree in Tirana, he pursued a career as a respected professor of biochemistry and principal of the local school of music. Alongside his wife, he immigrated to the US in 1999 to join his daughter and family. He will be affectionately remembered as a warm and caring family man, multi-linguist, avid pianist, active explorer, and lover of art, culture, and the outdoors.
Donations in Alfred’s name can be made to Albania’s Fighting Cancer USA.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea Street (off Route 3A – Bicknell Square). Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 11:00 AM in St. George’s Albanian Cathedral in Boston. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy.
