Alfred J. Mavilia

Mavilia, Alfred J. of Hingham, formerly of Weymouth and Braintree, died August 24, 2013. 

Alfred was a WWII Veteran of the United States Navy.  After the war he joined A&P Supermarkets where he spent his career, retiring in 2000 as Store Manager.  Since he worked six days a week, Alfred had a special love of Sundays.  It usually started out early either fishing with his father-in-law or tending to his yard, cigar in hand and always ended with the family enjoying his famous BBQ dinners.  His family also enjoyed summers in Hull at their beach house.  His wife Grace Anne suffered from difficult health at an early age and Alfred was always there for her.  His care and devotion to his wife will never be forgotten.  He will be remembered as a gentleman by all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Beloved husband of the late Grace Anne (Tricomi) Mavilia.  Loving father of Richard and his wife Andrea of Hull, Ronald and his wife Susan of Cohasset, David of Cohasset, and Paul and Dennis Shaw of Hanover. Brother of the late Anthony and Nicholas Mavilia.  Grandfather of Stephen, Mariana, Michaela, David, Sarah, Caitlin and Sean.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-8 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM.  A funeral service will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:30 AM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, Hingham.  Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Randolph.
