Alfred G. Barnet

Barnet, Alfred G. of Hingham, formerly of West Roxbury, July 15, 2006. Beloved husband of 42 years to Erika K. (Fickeisen) of Hingham. Loving father of Scott of Tewksbury, Laura and her husband Karl Usher of VT and Jonathan and his wife Heather of Hingham. Brother of Elsa Gilroy of ME and the late Carl, Mina Houle and Francis. Cherished grandfather of Grace & Katherine Usher and Thomas Barnet. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, Wednesday at 10 AM. Funeral Mass in Saint Paul’s Church, Hingham at 11 AM. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 PM. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mr. Barnet may be made to American Cancer Society, Central NE Region, 18 Tremont Street, Suite 700 Boston, MA 02108. Mr. Barnet grew up in the Jamaica Plain section of Boston and graduated from Boston English High School. He was an Air Force Veteran. After his military duty he graduated from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy with a BS in 1959 and an MS in 1961. He was a Registered Pharmacist. Alfred was 39 year employee of the Gillette Company in South Boston. He was a project chemist in the Personal Care Division and was credited with a patent for shaving cream development. He retired in 2000. Alfred was a 45 year member of the Boylston Schul-Verein Club of Walpole. Mr. Barnet had a passion for gardening, completing crossword puzzles and model ship building.
