Alexander J. Tanguy

Tanguy, Alexander J. of Weymouth, MA, passed away on March 21, 2014. 

Always loving, always loved, Alec was the beloved husband of the late Shirley P. (Carlson), loving father of Susan E. Caruso and her late husband, Paul, of Kingston, Brian A. Tanguy and his wife, Joanne,  and Kim E. Tanguy of Weymouth. Devoted brother of Mary Tanguy of Abington, and the late Margaret Schuler and John Tanguy.  Cherished “Papa” of Brian, Krista, and the late Alysa Tanguy, Alexander, Tara, and Ty Montanaro,  and Christian and Zachary Caruso. 

A lifelong Weymouth resident, Alec also spent much time in Madison, NH and Marco Island, FL. Family, faith and friends were his true loves. Alec will be remembered for his humanity, kindness and zest for life. Mr. Tanguy was a proud World War II veteran serving with the United States Air Force, stationed in the Philippines. In 1962, he co-founded Astro Gear and Instrument Company in Brockton, which specialized in defense contracts for the US government. Alec was a member of the Weymouth Lion’s Club and proudly served on several boards, including the Good Samaritan Hospital and the Weymouth School Building Committee. As a member of the Weymouth Continental Marines, his unit stood honor guard for President Ford and Queen Elizabeth, and also participated in numerous July 4th turnarounds of the USS Constitution. A world traveler and gourmet cook, his generosity  touched many lives.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, North Weymouth, at 40 Sea Street (off Rt. 3A-Bicknell Sq.) Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 10:15 AM on Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Jerome’s Church, Weymouth at 11AM.  Alec will be buried in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA at a later date.
