Julian, Albert L., ret. QFD, of N. Weymouth and Spring Hill, FL, formerly of Quincy, died June 30, 2014.
Al’s life revolved around his family and three grandsons. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He later worked at the Quincy Ship Yard before becoming a firefighter for the Quincy Fire Department, retiring after a 26 year career. His favorite years were spent at Engine 6 in Hough’s Neck as well as playing Santa Clause for the department during the Quincy Christmas Parade. Baseball was a constant in his life and he was either coaching, managing or just enjoying America’s pastime. He was a founding member of the Quincy Sheriffs Baseball Team, and Assistant Coach for the Rockland Cardinals and Falmouth Commodores. Al also took many trips to Florida to enjoy the Red Sox in Spring Training. He had a passion for vintage automobiles and attended car shows all over New England. His cars were seen in many Quincy Christmas Parades and one of his cars was in the movie, “The Brinks Job”. He was a proud member of the Quincy Fire Fighters IAFF Local #792. Al will be remembered for his loyalty, generosity, work ethic and his wonderful sense of humor and fondness for practical jokes.
Beloved husband of Helene (McDonough) Julian of N. Weymouth. Loving father of Lisa M. Julian and her spouse Deborah A. Bushey of N. Weymouth, Albert L. Julian, Jr. and his spouse Douglas Nahigian of NJ, and Lori Condon and her husband Chris, QFD, of Hull. Cherished grandfather of Patrick, Matthew and Declan Condon; all of Hull. Son of the late Albert H. and Mary Julian. Brother of James Julian and his wife JoAnne of Weymouth and the late Gregory Julian. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:45 AM Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10:30 AM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
