Ahern, Albert C. of Quincy November 23, 2003. Husband of 39 years to the late Betty L. (Foster) Ahern. Loving father of Edward J. & his wife Pam Ahern of Braintree. Devoted “Grampie” of Kristen & Matthew Ahern. Brother of Doris Caroselli of Arlington and the late Rita Young. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., WOLLASTON Saturday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, N. Quincy at 10 AM. Visiting hours Friday 3-7 PM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Mr. Ahern entered the U.S. Navy when he was 17 and served during WWII on the ship LST893 (Landing Ship Tank) in the Pacific. He was responsible for the delivery of men and supplies to the South Pacific Islands earning him the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class. He was involved in the peacetime occupation of Japan and was stationed in Tokyo Bay when peace was declared. After the service, he worked as a PBX Installer for AT&T for 38 years in Cambridge and the South Shore, retiring in October of 1986. He was a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus, first in Readville and then in North Quincy. He enjoyed fresh water bass fishing with his son and was a member of the Charles River Bass Masters and the MA Bass Association, often entering tournaments. He enjoyed traveling to Foxwoods with the Knights and to Las Vegas with his family.Donations in memory of Mr. Ahern may be made to the Leukemia Society of America, 495 Old Connecticut Path, #220, Framingham, MA 01701.
